Bird Print & Peter Pan Collar

As per usual, I didn't have plans for the Spring Break that passed a few weeks ago. So while at home I took to experiment a little (more like once lol) with my outfits.
ZARA Knit Cable Cardigan | H&M Bird Print Shirt | AE Jeggings
Looking back at it now, this doesn't seem like such a hard ensemble to put together. But coming from someone who's "go-to" wear was always hoodies and jeans, sometimes a simple combo like a sweater and blouse can be easily overlooked.

Before I decided I needed a wardrobe change, my closet only consisted of solid colors. I have always been hesitant to try on clothing with printed designs. Something about it made me associate it with 'old'. But when I saw this bird print shirt in the store, paired with a peter pan collar, I just couldn't help myself. I am glad I ended up trying it on because (as corny as it sounds) it really opened up my mind to start trying on a different variety of clothes. What have I been missing out on my whole life? (Okay that was an exaggeration. Mostly my teen life, that's when I started choosing my own clothes.)
Call It Spring Pumps
Perhaps it is a bit too matchy-matchy with all the beige in the cardigan and shirt. But I kind of like the way these heels looked with the outfit. I didn't wear these outside my house though. I'm still in the process of getting accustomed to wearing heels. For now I have just been wearing them as much as my feet can handle when I'm at home. Any good tips to share for a newbie at heels?

  1. i totally love the blouse + cardi combo. if i could live in this combo forever... i would. X)

as for heels... those are the death of me. i usually go for chunky heels, so i mostly pick boots/booties to wear. as for pumps and stiletto type shoes... i'll have to start small and work my way up.

  2. For heels, I would suggest J crew or ColeHaan's Nike Tech. They are super comfortable and comes in lots of colors. They are worth every cent because they have serious mileage on them.

Invest in shoe petals, and buy some sole grippers/duct tape so your heels won't slip. To break in shoes faster, wear thick socks with your heels and then use a blow drier on the front and back of your heels. The heat will expand the leather, and if you use the cool shot function it will lock in the shape--much like how you dry your hair.

  3. Very nice outfit you put together. As for going out with heels bring a pair of flats just in case your feet gets tired of wearing your heels. I normally would bring a comfy shoes just in case cause I had a bad experience wearing heels all night at a friends bachelorette that left my feet so sore.

  4. Nice outfit. I think you paired them well with each other. I love heels but they can be a pain and it's hard to find a comfortable pair that looks good.

  5. Nice pumps :D I don't think it's too matchy matchy. I'm totally digging nudes and creams and white now XD I feel like with heels it kind of involves luck... some heels take no time at all for me to break them in, while others the shape is just wrong for my feet. that's just me though. I found inserts do help though =P
